Name and age of child:

Freya, used from 6 monthsold to present day (19 months old)

First impressions:

The Mamas and Papas Juice highchair comes in an exceptionally small box, you can hardly believe it contains a highchair! Upon unboxing, you can feel all the parts are made of good quality materials and it is really stylish with a Scandinavian influence. The highchair adapts as your child gets older, with it eventually converting into a toddler chair for use all over the home.

Who is the highchair suitable for?

It is suitable for use only when your baby can sit unaided, but with a minimum age of 6 months old. It can be used up to a maximum weight of 15kg.

We have used this highchair from 6 months old when we started weaning Freya, and it is still in the highchair mode at present (19 months old).

How easy is it to assemble?

The Juice highchair is really easy to assemble, with it taking no time at all to set up. When putting it together, the only thing to be mindful of is to follow the instructions when securing the legs and in which order; this is to ensure you can secure the foot rest.

You can also see how easy it will be to convert to the toddler seat later in life, you simply unscrew the legs which results in halving the height, you would also remove the food tray and harness.

How comfortable is the highchair?

The seat is a rounded shape with a kind of padding which you need to keep in place. I would say this is firm yet comfortable, this combination also means there is no slipping around. Freya has always been happy to sit in the seat!

The height of the highchair is perfect for the table, so if you chose to not use the removable tray, the highchair can be pulled right up to the table. We didn’t do this in the early days of introducing solids, but more recently we sometimes use the table instead of the tray – generally it depends what the food is and how messy its likely to get!

What is the harness like?

There is a 5-point harness to secure your little one in place, which threads through from the back of the seat. The straps are easily adjustable and these can be removed for washing too. You would also remove the harness when you decide to no longer use it as highchair, but as a toddler chair instead.

How stylish is it?

We really love how the Juice highchair looks! There are two colour options, Eucalyptus Green or Scandi Grey, we have the latter. The legs have the appearance of a light wood, with plastic foot caps to protect your floor. Whilst it is suitable up to 15kg, the highchair feels like the perfect size. It doesn’t have a high back which you see on some designs, which often make them feel huge once you get them home! This looks great and fits well around the table.

How easy is it to clean?

It is really straight forward to remove the tray which you can then wash in the sink or wipe down with ease. The harness straps can also be removed for washing which is also pretty simple to do. The seat insert is wipeable and the rounded, smooth shape with no crevasses makes this really easy. For a more thorough clean, be sure to lift up and/or remove the seat insert as crumbs can get underneath this.

What we love:

We pretty much love everything about Mamas and Papas Juice highchair! From the appearance, through to the longevity of life it will have. There are some nice touches such as the carry handles built into the sides of the seat – these look like part of the design but make moving the seat around the table really easy. It is lightweight and if you wanted to dismantle and store it away, you just remove the legs and it is really quite compact.

What could be improved?

For us, the only area of improvement would be the footrest. It sits quite low and cannot be adjusted as it is secured to the legs of the highchair itself. So for a 6 month old, the footrest is redundant as its too low down and is really only beneficial as your infant gets older and can reach it.

Would you recommend it to a friend and is it worth the money?

We already recommend this highchair to friends and family! At £119, it isn’t the cheapest on the market, but it isn’t the most expensive either. That said, we have used it every day for a year now, it still looks amazing and we know there is lots of life still in it so it is worth the money.
